ID grippers, OD grippers, and vacuum assemblies.
Band Grip and Pitch Tool:
100 pound grip and pitch tool which gripped on the inner and out diameter and then pitched the part 90 degrees to place onto and unwinding machine. System was incorporated with the Gorbel 165 pound capacity Easy Arm with remote pendant control.
Silicone Ingot Vacuum Lift:
This silicone ingot vacuum assist was designed to lift up different diameters of silicone ingots from 200 mm to 300 mm weighing up to 180 pounds. At the time Silicone ingots manufactured for computer chips and solar panels had a cost of about $55.00 per pound therefore a 180-pound ingot had a cost of almost $10000.00. Extra safeties were incorporated with this tool where two separate vacuum circuits were used in case one failed the other still had a 2:1 safety factor of grip force. The check valves were incorporated so in the event that the pant lost air pressure the tool would maintain a grip on the parts long enough to be set down. A safety interlock was incorporated so that the ingot could not be released until it was set down and supported from below. The vacuum lift was used with a Gorbel G-force with an inline side handle. The Gorbel G-force speed was adjustable to prevent the operator from moving the part too quickly to prevent damage to the part.
Louvered Mist Eliminator Vacuum Lift for HVAC:
This rigid vacuum lift is designed to not only vacuum lift different sized mist eliminator panels weighing up to 200 pounds by adjusting the vacuum arms in and out for different width panels, the end effector quickly is interchanged to accept another vacuum lift assist for a completely different shaped part allowing the company to have to purchase just one lift assist and one bridge on the bridge crane saving the customer several thousands of dollars and space.
High Speed Oven Lift:
The oven lift is designed to lift up both single and double stack ovens off the assembly conveyor and onto the bottom packaging. The double stack oven weighed 318 pounds and the cycle time per lift was 45 seconds. After initial training the operator was able to complete the cycle in 30 seconds. The lift clamp traps the embosses on each side of the oven and a pressure switch was added to the pneumatics to reduce the clamp pressure to only 10 psi to prevent crushing the thin outer sheet metal of the oven. The system was incorporated with the Gorbel 660 pound G-force IQ model which incorporated a safety to prevent lifting the oven unless the clamps were properly seated. It also incorporated a line stop on the lift assist so the operator could quickly stop the line in the event of an emergency.
Hatchback Lift and Inspection Manipulator:
The hatchback lift and inspection manipulator was designed to allow a single operator to come onto the part by two opposing ball sockets and allow the operator to rotate the part 360 degrees to inspect it. Prior it took two operators to manhandle the rotation movement on a table top which caused some damage to some of the parts. The table was eliminated along with one operator and damage was eliminate. The lift is controlled by a Gorbel G-force in a rigid trolley hanger assembly and was the IQ model which prevented lift of the part unless the two grippers were correctly seated into the ball socket via photo eye sensors.
Quick-Change Vacuum Tools and Upending Titanium Slabs for Saw Operation:
This application the customer was sawing various lengths of Titanium slabs up to 600 pounds. These various lengths and widths required a multitude of various sized vacuum tools you see pictured in the background on a stand. We incorporated a high-speed quick change approximately 15 seconds to change out the vacuum tools. The slabs came in on a fork lift horizontal and the saw cut with the slab on a vertical orientation. The vacuum lift assist would pick in the horizontal and place onto the upending conveyor. The slab gets upended and will then index into the saw,
Tandem Grip and Gravity Rotate Hurricane Door Lift Assist:
Initially the company used 5 workers and a forklift drive to upend the hurricane louver doors to take them from lying horizontally on a skid to vertical to hang onto a paint line conveyor. With these tandem gripper tools, we were about to grab high on each end of the lover door and allow gravity to upend the part which could weigh as much as 1600 pounds. The operation went from 6 workers to 3 workers and eliminated the need for a forklift. More importantly it made it a safe application compared to their prior method. The tandem system incorporated two 1320 pound G-forces and the operators were able to engage the float button and use two hands on the louver door for better positioning.
